Study Skills Specialist

You can make an appointment with Jordan White, the Study Skills Specialist at UMBC’s Learning Resources Center.

Jordan White

whiteJordanSm“I graduated from UMBC with a degree in Mathematics, and I have been working as an adjunct instructor for the Mathematics and Statistics Department since 2015, focusing on developmental mathematics (Math 104, 106, 155). That same year I started creating math content in classes for Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Talented Youths. In 2016 I also became an instructor for that program teaching their Competitive Mathematics Prep class. In 2017, I started working with UMBC’s Learning Resources Center as their Study Skills Specialist.

As a Study Skills Specialist, I have meetings with students aimed at identifying their academic challenges, and identifying resources aimed at forming a plan for their academic success. I am very passionate about this and incredibly excited. We want students to become more independent learners, to be aware and use their resources, to build life skills. Those ideas are the essence of the meetings we hold with students and everything we do here.”
