Placement Testing

The Learning Resources Center, in conjunction with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation, the Office of Academic and Pre-professional Advising, the English Department and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, coordinates Placement Testing for all UMBC students.

Placement Testing is offered online from March through August and from November through January during specific windows of time.

To Request Accommodated Testing (All Students):

Students with a documented disability may request reasonable accommodations for UMBC placement testing. Students with disabilities seeking accommodations must register with the Office of Student Disability Services and submit appropriate documentation to determine accommodation eligibility. Students are encouraged to complete the SDS registration process with a minimum of two weeks advance notice of the assigned placement testing date.

UMBC has three different Placement Tests: The English Placement Test, the Math Placement Test, and the Reading Placement Test. Please click on any of the tests for more information.
